DIY baking kits? Why Baking Is Better When We Do It Ourselves?

There’s something magical about mixing flour, eggs, and sugar - something that goes far beyond cake. In a world that moves too fast, baking slows us down. It brings us back to the present. And when we do it together - whether it’s with our kids, our friends, or a community of strangers - it becomes something even more beautiful.

You know that feeling?

That moment when you want to make something special, but everything about it feels overwhelming?

That was Shlomit, standing in a tiny kitchen, trying to make her son’s first birthday cake. She didn’t want to impress anyone. She just wanted the cake not to fall apart. She wanted him to smile. She wanted to feel proud.

But instead?A bowl of melted cream. Half a cake stuck to the pan. A minor identity crisis.

And she wasn’t alone…

Neja had her moment too, arms dusted with flour, trying to recreate a Pinterest idea that promised joy but delivered only stickiness and stress. Her daughter watched, amused, as frosting slid sideways and confidence slipped with it.

It wasn’t about baking skills. It was about the pressure to make it perfect—and the quiet heartbreak of feeling like you’ve failed at something that was supposed to be fun.

Both realized: If baking felt this way for them—how many others were quietly giving up before they even got started?

That question planted the seed and Cake It Yourself  began to grow.

✨ The spark that started it all

That first cake flopped—but something unexpected took root.

Shlomit, discovered baking as a lifeline during the fog of postpartum. What really drew her in wasn’t the final result, it was the act of creating: mixing, persisting, and seeing her child’s face light up with pride.

Meanwhile, Neja’s journey took a pivot, after years of leading global operations and grants for charity organizations, she’d  also experienced the weight of postpartum, and found herself craving something mentally nourishing. When she tried baking with her daughter, it became more than just a recipe—it was a moment of play, presence, and self‑rewiring.

Neja and Shlomit found comfort and confidence in FunCakes baking mixes—a brand that is hard to fail with. That simplicity and reliability helped them rediscover joy in the kitchen.

Cake It Yourself is a heartfelt invitation from two moms, to create and be a part of a community through the simple, magical process of baking.
